COURSE OVERVIEW

Our Emergency First Aid for Rugby course is a regulated – 1 Day Emergency First Aid at Work (EFAW) Level 3 (RQF) with a specific Rugby bolt on.

This one-day course is our introduction to pitch side first aid and is accepted by the RFU for coaches and volunteers who provide first aid for their clubs. It provides a good insight into first aid procedures required for rugby.

The course uses a combination of knowledge development, skills development and scenario practice to ensure participants have the confidence in their ability to provide care when emergency situations arise. We are experienced pitch side first aid providers so we train you to confidently help players with injuries or problems during a game or at training.

Our Emergency First Aid for Rugby also gives you a regulated Emergency First Aid at Work qualification so it doubles up for your workplace. This 3 year qualification gives you the skills needed to save a life. We include defibrillator (AED) training in this course.

The course syllabus is laid down by the Health & Safety Executive (HSE) and complies with the Health & Safety (First-Aid) Regulations 1981 (Appendix 6 Content of an Emergency First Aid at Work (EFAW) Course.

WHO IS THIS COURSE FOR?

Our Emergency First Aid for Rugby course is ideally suited for coaches & volunteers who are given the role of a Pitch Side First Aider at their club. It provides a good working knowledge of emergency first aid and the confidence to use it. Not only is this course accepted by the RFU it is a regulated 1 day Emergency First Aid at Work qualification which lasts for 3 years.

COURSE OBJECTIVES

By the end of the course participants will be able to:

  • Understand the role of the first-aider including reference to: the importance of preventing cross infection, and the use of available equipment
  • Assess the situation and circumstances in order to act safely, promptly and effectively in an emergency
  • Provide first aid to a casualty who is unconscious
  • Provide CPR cardiopulmonary resuscitation
  • Provide first aid to a casualty who is choking
  • Provide first aid to a casualty who is wounded and bleeding
  • Provide first aid to a casualty who is suffering from shock
  • Provide appropriate first aid for minor injuries (including small cuts, grazes and bruises, minor burns and scalds)
  • Provide first aid using a defibrillator
  • Provide first aid to a casualty who is suffering from sporting injuries
  • Provide first aid to a casualty who is suffering from a head injury
  • Provide first aid to a casualty who is suffering from a spinal injury

ASSESSMENT & CERTIFICATION

This course includes a practical assessment and multiple choice examination.

Successful participants will be awarded the Emergency First Aid at Work certificate and CPD evidence.

These locations are where we hold our public first aid training courses. But these can also be used for private group bookings. Our public courses normally run once a month at each venue, please check our live booking system for details.

Green Box can also train you at your place of work. We specialise in in-house first aid courses. So training can be at your workplace or venue. Or we can find training facilities in a location of your choice. We have instructors across the UK and travel the length of the country so please do get in touch.
