Our 1 Day Emergency First Aid at Work and Forestry is the Level 3 (VTQ) – Emergency First Aid at Work & Forestry (EFAW-F) course including AED (defibrillator).

This version of the Emergency First Aid at Work (EFAW) course includes additional subjects required by the Forestry Commission including severe cuts like chainsaws, crush injuries, Hypothermia and Lyme disease.

The course uses a combination of knowledge development, skills development and realistic scenario practice to ensure participants have the confidence in their ability to provide care when emergency situations arise.

The Green Box 1 Day Emergency First Aid at Work and Forestry Level 3 course (EFAW-F) is ideal for most businesses whose risk assessment has identified that there is no requirement for a fully trained first aider at their workplace.

  • Understanding the role and responsibilities of the First Aider
  • Assessing an emergency situation
  • First aid for a casualty who is unresponsive and breathing normally
  • First Aid for a casualty who is unresponsive and not breathing (use of AED)
  • Treatment for a casualty suffering from a seizure
  • First Aid for a choking casualty
  • First Aid treatment for external bleeding, including treatment of shock
  • First Aid to a casualty with bites, stings and minor injuries including burns
  • Crush Injuries
  • Hypothermia
  • Lyme Disease

COURSE OBJECTIVES

By the end of the course participants will be able to:

  • Understand the role of the first-aider including reference to: the importance of preventing cross infection, and the use of available equipment
  • Assess the situation and circumstances in order to act safely, promptly and effectively in an emergency
  • Provide first aid to a casualty who is unconscious
  • Provide CPR cardiopulmonary resuscitation
  • Provide first aid to a casualty who is choking
  • Provide first aid to a casualty who is wounded and bleeding
  • Provide first aid to a casualty who is suffering from shock
  • Provide appropriate first aid for minor injuries (including small cuts, grazes and bruises, minor burns and scalds)
  • Provide first aid using a defibrillator

ASSESSMENT & CERTIFICATION

This course includes a practical assessment and multiple choice examination.

Successful participants will be awarded the Emergency First Aid at Work certificate and CPD evidence.

These locations are where we hold our public first aid training courses. But these can also be used for private group bookings. Our public courses normally run once a month at each venue, please check our live booking system for details.

We can also train you at your place of work. We specialise in in-house first aid courses. We can train at your workplace or venue. Or we can find training facilities in a location of your choice. We have instructors across the UK and we travel the length of the country so please do get in touch.
