COURSE OVERVIEW

Our 12-hour Ofsted Approved Paediatric First Aid course is designed for people who are working with or have responsibility for children. It is a child specific first aid course, designed to give you the confidence and skills to handle emergency situation and gives the organisation or employer the First Aid cover needed by law.

The course uses combination of knowledge development, skill development and realistic scenario practice to make sure participants have the confidence in their ability to provide care when emergency situations arise.

The course is available as a two-day classroom course or as a blended course with online training.

MEETING LEGAL REQUIREMENTS

Our 12-hour Ofsted approved Paediatric First Aid Course meets the requirements set out by Ofsted, EYFS, CSSIW and SureStart for people needing a 2 day, 12 contact hour first aid course for infants and children as well as those set by Department for Children, Schools and Families (DCSF).

Our 12-hour Paediatric Blended course gives you the option to only spend one day in the classroom meaning less time away from work or family. This course offers an excellent alternative for those who are simply unable to spare the time to attend 2 days in a classroom-only course.

It’s ideal for childminders and carers who need to complete a Paediatric First Aid Course to comply with the legal and government requirements. Our blended course offers a video-based online course that is completed before attending a full day in the classroom with an instructor to complete the practical part of the course.

You can take our engaging online course and then join us for one day for practical training with one of our qualified instructors.

COURSE OBJECTIVES

By the end of the course participants will be able to:

  • Understand the role of the first-aider including reference to: the importance of preventing cross infection, and the use of available equipment
  • Assess the situation and circumstances in order to act safely, promptly and effectively in an emergency
  • Provide first aid to a casualty who is unconscious
  • Provide CPR cardiopulmonary resuscitation
  • Provide first aid to a casualty who is choking
  • Provide first aid to a casualty who is wounded and bleeding
  • Provide first aid to a casualty who is suffering from shock
  • Provide appropriate first aid for minor injuries (including small cuts, grazes and bruises, minor burns and scalds).
  • Provide first aid using a defibrillator
  • Record and report accidents, injuries and illness to meet HSE requirements
  • Look after and ensure first aid kits meet requirements

ASSESSMENT & ACCREDITATION

This course includes a practical assessment and multiple choice examination.

Successful delegates will receive a Certificate which is valid for 3 years.

This course is Certified by ProTrainings and Green Box First Aid Training.

DURATION

12-hour course: 12 hours contact time (normally 2 days).

Blended course: 6 hours contact time in the class room. Prior to the day in the classroom you must complete the online section of the course. This can be done at your own pace and in your own time.

Green Box First Aid Training has classroom locations for our First Aid Courses in Windsor, Slough, Bracknell, Staines upon Thames, Newbury and Farnborough. These locations are where we hold our public first aid training courses. But these can also be used for private group bookings. Our public courses normally run once a month at each venue, please check our live booking system for details.

Green Box can also train you at your place of work. We specialise in in-house first aid courses. So training can be at your workplace or venue. Or we can find training facilities in a location of your choice. We have instructors across the UK and travel the length of the country so please do get in touch.
